NIGERIAN ASSEMBLY OF GOD

God's Word For Today

Luxuries One Can’t Afford

Read Numbers 20:1 through 21:35
Coach Barber was exhausted. It was the final week of the season, and the athletes she had been coaching seemed to have found her last nerve and jumped on it. She tried to maintain her calm, loving, Christian demeanor, but it was becoming so difficult. One more sarcastic remark and she might lose it. Then she remembered her mother’s words: “Losing your temper is a luxury you can’t afford. As believers, just one tantrum can undo all the good we’ve done.”
He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” (Numbers 20:10).
It’s easy to see how Moses arrived at this level of frustration. The people God had told him to lead were whiners. But this story isn’t as much about the hearts of Israel, as it is about Moses’ heart. Anger and frustration weren’t an acceptable reason to disobey God then, and they still aren’t today. There are simply some luxuries one can’t afford.
Prayer Suggestion: Dear God, please grant me an obedient, quiet spirit as I face challenges today.
